PL02 Antique Tin Ceiling Tiles Turn a Brick Dining Room into an Intimate Supper Club
Interior Case Study · The Fifth Wall
A long brick dining room already had warmth and intimacy. What it lacked was an overhead surface with enough character to connect the architecture, lighting, and supper-club atmosphere.
01 · The challenge
A beautiful room with one unfinished plane
The dining room was already carefully composed: reclaimed-looking brick, a single banquet table, leather-toned chairs, industrial wall lights, greenery, and a glowing marquee at the far end. Yet the plain cream ceiling felt generic beside those expressive surfaces. It reflected plenty of light, but it did not reinforce the room's sense of history.
Its length made the contrast more noticeable. Pendant fixtures formed a strong central line while the surrounding ceiling remained empty. The design challenge was to introduce detail without making the narrow space feel lower or overly busy.
Another consideration was balance. The side walls are heavily textured, so a dark or highly reflective ceiling could have closed the room in. A softly aged metallic surface offers contrast without behaving like a mirror. Its pale high points preserve a sense of height, while the shadowed details bring the new ceiling into conversation with the rugged masonry.
02 · The design decision
Choose a finish that bridges brick and light
PL02 Antique Tin ceiling panels bring formal ornament to the room, while their rubbed silver-gray finish keeps the effect grounded. Charcoal shading settles into recessed lines; warmer highlights appear where the pendant and wall lights touch the raised pattern. That tonal movement relates to both the cool metal fixtures and the russet brick.
The symmetrical tile grid also organizes the long ceiling. Repeating octagonal centers and scrolling borders lead the eye toward the illuminated “M,” creating perspective with more texture than a flat surface could provide.
The result
An intimate room that now feels fully intentional
After installation, the decorative ceiling tiles act like a patterned canopy above the communal table. Their relief catches each pool of light, adding rhythm without distracting from place settings or conversation. The ceiling now belongs to the same visual story as the brick walls, framed photography, plants, and dark wood cabinetry.
For restaurants, wine rooms, cocktail lounges, and home entertaining spaces, faux tin ceiling tiles can turn an overlooked fifth wall into a defining feature. Here, PL02 does not simply add decoration. It gives the narrow dining room a clearer identity: part industrial loft, part historic supper club, and entirely memorable.
