Two reliable ways to install

Use an existing suspended grid for drop-in installation, or mount tiles directly to a prepared ceiling using tape and suitable construction adhesive.

Drop-in and glue-up installation methods for Paintsdecor faux tin ceiling tiles
01

Method 1

Drop-in ceiling grid

  • Install or inspect the suspended ceiling grid.
  • Apply tape where extra stability is required.
  • Place each tile into the grid and trim perimeter pieces.

Method 2

Direct glue-up

  • Clean and mark the ceiling carefully.
  • Use double-sided tape for positioning.
  • Add suitable construction adhesive where needed and press firmly.

Step-by-step

Direct-mount installation

Read all four steps before beginning. Work from a clear reference line and check alignment as every new tile is installed.

  1. 01

    Preparation and surface cleaning

Prepare a utility knife, compass knife, marker, tape measure, scissors, pointed scissors, chalk line, and steel ruler. Thoroughly remove ceiling dust. Use double-sided tape on flat, dry, dust-free surfaces; use suitable construction adhesive with tape on uneven or damp surfaces.

  2. 02

    Chalk line and layout

Measure and mark reference positions on the ceiling with a tape measure and marker. Use a laser level when available, or pull a chalk line between two points and snap it two or three times to leave a clear guide.

  3. 03

    Apply and fit the tiles

Apply double-sided tape evenly around all four edges and through the middle of the back. Remove the protective film, align the tile with the guide lines, place it flat against the ceiling, and press every taped area firmly.

  4. 04

Trim edges and cut light openings

Measure light openings and draw them on the back of the panel. Cut circular holes with a compass knife and finish edges with pointed scissors. At walls and corners, mark the actual size, trim the excess, reapply tape, and press the panel into place.
